Aashiqui 2, which was released in 2013, still holds a special place in the hearts of romantic film lovers. It has been more than a decade since the film graced the big screen, and audiences got to see several iconic love stories during these years, but none of them managed to match the depth of 'Rahul' and 'Aarohi's love, which remained incomplete. Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor's chemistry felt so real to fans that they have long held the hope to see the duo together, on-screen again. To end the curiosity, the film's director, Mohit Suri was recently asked about the possibility of the same.
For a long time there has been a buzz that Aashiqui 2 makers are planning a sequel for the film. So, Mohit Suri, who recently sat down for an interview with Filmygyan, was asked about it. In his response, the filmmaker shared that the ultimate decision rests with the producers of the film. He feels that the makers won't give him the opportunity. But Mohit admitted that he would love to bring Aditya and Shraddha together for a film. However, it will only be possible if he finds a good script worthy of portraying the duo's chemistry. In his words:
"I think you would have to ask the producers. They don't want to employ me. I would love to make a film with this lead, but I have to find a good script."
Mohit Suri, who understands the expectations that come with taking the Aashiqui franchise forward, joked that it is difficult to live up to the pressure of making the next installment. In other case, he needs to find a better script for Aditya and Shraddha, which is not an easy task.
Mohit Suri, who is busy promotion of his upcoming film, Saiyaara, revealed in an interview with Pinkvilla that he and the producers had initially planned the film to be Aashiqui 3. He shared that previously, Mahesh Bhatt and T-Series's Bhushan Kumar were on better terms when they asked him to work on the next installment in the franchise. Taking about their sensitive bond, the director explained that sometimes they are on good terms and at others they are not. He came up with an idea for Aashiqui 3. However, the film, which stars Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has now become Saiyaara. Sharing the reason for the change, he said:
"They were in a hurry and wanted to announce, which is something I was not comfortable with. I prefer having a script first and then making an announcement. But to sum it up, yes, this idea was originally for Aashiqui 3."
Aashiqui 3 has been making the headlines for the past few years as the title remains caught up in a confusion. For those unaware, Aashiqui franchise rights are shared by Mahesh Bhatt's Vishesh films and T-Series. As the latter is producing an Anurag Basu film starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela in the lead roles, the film was initially titled Aashiqui 3. However, legal disputes over the name have prevented them from using it. So, despite being a romantic film, it will not be linked with the franchise.
