Will Corey Lewandowski Stay At DHS After Kristy Noem's Exit Over Their Alleged Bond? Find Out

Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski's political controversies have once again made headlines. But unlike any other professional reasons, this time their rumoured personal affair has come under scrutiny. For months, news outlets such as The Daily Mail reported on their alleged bond. Still, it finally came to light when President Donald Trump removed her from her role as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Now that Kristi is making headlines, questions have also emerged about whether Corey Lewandowski, who allegedly had significant influence in the department, would exit along with her.

Will Corey Lewandowski stay at DHS? 

After Kristi Noem was removed from her prestigious position, several news outlets reported that Corey Lewandowski is expected to leave DHS soon after the leadership change. According to a report from The New York Post, Corey Lewandowski has been a powerful behind-the-scenes figure within the agency and was widely considered for the role of Kristi's chief of staff despite having no official government role. 

Some White House officials hinted that Corey Lewandowski may no longer be a top advisor to the new U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Markwayne Mullin. One official claimed that his exit would likely coincide with the leadership transition later this month. However, Corey himself did not confirm his exit plans. Sharing his views on his possible future in the Trump administration, he said:

"I would never try to get into the mind of President Trump. I think he has his reasons for everything he does, and we have seen enormous success from his leadership at the White House."

Corey Lewandowski undermines his role in the Department of Homeland Security 

Earlier reports claimed that Corey Lewandowski had significant influence within DHS, with Kristi's support. But he has always tried to downplay his role. He once called himself an "unpaid volunteer" while he served in the administration. Moreover, Corey highlighted that he was working under a special government employee designation, which allows him to serve in the government for up to 130 days within a year. According to reports cited by The Atlantic and other outlets, Corey played a key role in staffing decisions and internal operations at DHS. 

Some other critics within the DHS claimed that his presence was used to create further tension among officials, but these allegations have not been formally proven. Meanwhile, amid speculation about his future, Corey has suggested he is willing to work with the incoming leadership. He reportedly extended an olive branch to Senator Mullin, who will replace Kristi Noem.

Why was Kristi Noem replaced? 

Kristi Noem's removal from office came shortly after she faced intense questioning in a congressional hearing about her conduct in office. During the session, Democratic lawmakers asked her about allegations that she had a personal relationship with Corey. But Kristi strongly criticised the questions, calling them inappropriate. However, she did not directly address the claims, which has intensified the speculations. 

The issue has added to the growing criticism around her leadership at DHS. Meanwhile, reports of her frequent travel with Corey and his alleged involvement in the department's inner workings have already made headlines. Meanwhile, the White House has not given any detailed explanation for Kristi's removal, but the timing of the hearing has further raised questions.
