House of David has wrapped up its Season 2 as well. The series debuted earlier this year, in February 2025. According to Prime Video, Season 1 attracted 40 million viewers worldwide and became one of the platform's hit shows. After its grand success, makers brought Season 2. Now that House of David Season 2 has ended with 'David' on the run, fans are guessing that the hit series might have Season 3 on the cards. While no official announcement has been made yet, Jon Erwin, co-creator, has hinted at a trilogy.
By the end of House of David Season 2, 'King Saul' has turned into a fully corrupt king. He has only one motive, to take over the throne of Israel. While Prophet 'Samuel' tried to explain to 'King Saul' that 'David' is the true successor to the Israelite throne, 'King Saul' seemed adamant in his belief that 'David' was not the true successor. 'Samuel' also acted as a protector to 'David' and his loyal followers and helped them to escape the city of Nob.

Ever since 'King Saul' found out that 'David' is the anointed king of Israel, he has been on the verge of killing him. 'Samuel' stopped 'King Saul' and his army when they attacked the city of Nob in order to capture 'David'. This led to a fight between 'Samuel' and 'King Saul'. Being a true messenger of God, 'Samuel' had special power, and using it, he trapped 'King Saul' to make him understand that he was on the wrong foot.

But 'Samuel's' attempt failed, as 'King Saul' remained unchanged after emerging from the psychological realm, which represents Hell. In fact, after coming out of 'Samuel's' spell, 'King Saul' became more villainous. He was desperate to find 'David' and thus asked a priest of Nob about his whereabouts. In a shocking turn of events, when the priest failed to answer, he ordered his army and declared the whole city of Nob to be executed. This order made his loyal commander, 'Abner,' turn against him.

But this didn’t stop the evil 'King Saul'. Soon, he passed the order to another villain, 'Doeg'. 'Samuel' had trapped 'Doeg' for his crooked actions. While Season 2 ended with 'David' on the run, the audience was left heartbroken with the death of 'Samuel'. In his last attempt, 'Samuel' tried to explain the divine message to 'King Samuel', where it was mentioned that 'David' is the true successor to the throne of Israel, but everything went in vain as the king didn’t believe him.

While the viewership numbers for the new season have not yet been released by The Wonder Project, and the streaming platform has not officially confirmed House of David Season 3, the co-creator of the series, Jon Erwin, dropped a major hint about an upcoming sequel. During a House of David Season 2 red carpet interview, Jon shared that there are three seasons in total, as there has been too much information related to the life of 'David'. For the unversed, House of David is a cinematic adaptation of the biblical story of King David. He mentioned that season 3 will feature the rise of 'David' and will shed light on the latter part of his life. He was quoted as saying:
"There’s a lot to that guy’s life. I would say there are three seasons — this season and the next— that conclude the rise of David, the young story, and there’s the later part of his life."

Jon added that he always thought of a trilogy. He highlighted that Season 2 is the middle of the series. He then shared what to expect in the upcoming season. In his words:
"So, I’ve always considered what we’re doing a trilogy and Season 2 is the middle of that trilogy — and Season 3 will continue the rise of that character, and that will get you to the later part of his life. But there are lots of stories to tell. He lived an epic life."
