William Rush, the son of the renowned actress, Debbie Rush, passed away on December 17, 2025. He was just 31 years old when he left for the heavenly abode. William was widely known for his role as 'Josh Stevenson' in the TV drama series, Waterloo Road. He began his career with the comedy drama TV programme, Shameless. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by Debbie, who shared the painful moment through a heartwrenching Instagram post.
On December 18, 2025, Debbie Rush took to her Instagram handle and shared the painful news of her beloved son, William Rush’s death to the world. In the heartwrenching note, Debbie mentioned that William tragically passed away on December 17, 2025. She expressed her grief over the following incident. She wrote:
"Our beautiful baby boy, William, passed away on 17th December. As a family, our hearts are completely broken, and there are no words that can truly capture the depth of our loss."

In the same note, the Coronation Street star, Debbie, opened up about her son, William’s special act before his death. She shared that the actor was an organ donor who had given hope and life to other families. She highlighted that love and kindness will forever remain William’s legacy. She wrote:
"Even in our darkest moment, William gave the most precious gift of all. Through being an organ donor, he has given hope and life to other families, thinking of others right to the very end. His kindness and love will forever be part of his legacy."

Debbie concluded the heartwrenching post with a request for privacy at the moment. She highlighted that William will always be loved and will forever remain in their hearts. She wrote:
"We kindly ask that our privacy be respected as we navigate this unimaginable grief. William will always be loved, always missed, and forever in our hearts."

The untimely death of William Rush has left his family and fans heartbroken. While many heartfelt condolences are pouring in, many have become curious to know what caused William’s death. According to multiple reports, there has been no official confirmation about the cause of death of Waterloo Road actor.

Soon after Debbie confirmed the disheartening news of William’s death, William and Debbie’s co-star from Coronation Street, Sally Dynevor, reacted. She wrote, "Oh Debbie, I’m so shocked to hear this news. Sending you so much love. What a beautiful boy he was." William’s Waterloo Road co-star, Katie McGlynn, commented, "Debbie, I am so sorry to you all. Will brought a smile to everyone’s face and was a very kind soul. Thinking of you & sending so much love to you all."

William Rush was one of the three children of Debbie Rush and Andrew Rush. The couple had been married since 1989 and welcomed William on July 6, 1994. Before William began his career, he was trained at the Manchester School of Acting. He was inspired by his headteacher, Cherie Rivero, to take up acting as his career. Cherie also inspired the youngster to audition for a role in a school play at England’s Bamford Academy.
William portrayed the role of 'Ali Duncan' in the TV drama series, Grange Hill, from 2005 to 2007, and 'Josh Stevenson' in the TV series, Waterloo Road, from 2009 to 2013. He also appeared in Coronation Street alongwith his mom, Debbie. He also did some minor roles in Vera, Casualty, and Shameless. He also appeared as a lead cast in the TV mini-series, Friday On My Mind.
