Wing Commander, Namansh Syal, laid his life for the nation when on November 21, 2025, his Tejas Jet Aircraft just plunged into the ground during a negative G maneuver and erupted into a massive fireball. The Indian Air Force Officer's mortal remains were taken to his native village located in Himachal Pradesh. Namansh's wife, Wing Commander, Afshan, gave her last salute to her husband, fellow officer, paid her last respects, and cried a river.

Wing Commander, Namansh Syal's wife, Wing Commander Afshan, gave her last salute as a wife to her husband. Namansh's last rites were held at Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. Afshan's state was unimaginable as after paying her last respect, she was seen holding the hands of her fellow IAF officers and exited the place. The officer's brave wife managed to give her final salute to her husband in front of their six-year-old daughter.

It is not easy for any officer's wife to stand in front of his mortal remains and pay the last salute of respect. As the video went viral a user understanding the pain of Officer Afshan commented, "This nation will forever be indebted to you, ma’am. No words can compensate for this loss. The Wing Commander has not died; he has immortalised his name through his sacrifice. His courage will live on forever in the heart of the nation. Jai Hind." "Absolutely heartbreaking. Dear Afshan, may God give you strength in this hour of grief", wrote another user.

Standing with Afsan in this time of grief, a user seeing the video on X wrote, "The nation bows in gratitude to you, ma’am. Sacrifices like his can never be measured in words. A true warrior never dies—he becomes a legend. His bravery will continue to inspire generations. Jai Hind." Others commented, "A tragic reminder of the risks our air warriors take. Saluting the courage and sacrifice of Wing Commander Namansh Syal. May God give strength to Wing Commander Afshan and her family to bear this immense loss."

For Afshan, it was not easy to come and pay her final respects to her husband, late Wing Commander, Namansh Syal. Before the body of the officer arrived home, it was flown to Sulur Air Force Station located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Afshan's state to watch was unbearable during the last rites of her husband. The pilot has left behind his wife, six-year-old daughter, and his parents.

The Wing Commander was also honoured with a gun salute, a ritual done by the IAF officers who had brought his mortal remains to his native land. The last rites of Wing Commander Namansh Syal were conducted as per Hindu rituals, including a gun salute, a procession, and a wreath-laying ceremony. Wing Commander, Namansh Syal, was called a 'dedicated fighter pilot' and was known to be very professional. His village folks had gathered to watch the brave son of India one last time before his last rites were performed.
