'Cobra Kai' Fame, Xolo Mariduena Joins The Cast Of Netflix Live-Action Series, 'One Piece Season 3'

Netflix’s live-action, One Piece series has become one of the most talked-about shows, which follows the adventures of 'Monkey D. Luffy' and his pirate crew as they search for a treasure. For the unversed, the first season of One Piece was released in 2023, and ahead of the second season, the makers have shared an exciting update regarding the upcoming Season 3 of One Piece. 

Xolo Maridueña joins the cast of One Piece

Recently, Netflix announced a new and exciting addition to the core cast of the show, One Piece. Netflix announced that actor, Xolo Maridueña has been finalised to play the role of 'Portgas D. Ace' in One Piece Season 3, whose shooting will begin soon. For those who don't know, Xolo is best known for his role in Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle. The character Xolo will be playing is one of the most important characters. 'Portgas' is 'Luffy's' sworn brother, a pirate captain and a fighter with fire-based powers. 

Netflix announces Season 3 of One Piece

As One Piece Season 2 is all set to be released in early 2026, on August 2025, Netflix gave a sweet surprise to all their fans, as they announced Season 3 of One Piece. Netflix mentioned that production on Season 3 will resume later this year in Cape Town, South Africa. The OTT platform also confirmed that Ian Stokes is joining Joe Tracz as co-showrunner and Season 3 will feature Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar and Xolo Maridueña.

The show, One Piece follows 'Monkey D. Luffy', a boy with a rubber body, who dreams of finding the treasure called 'One Piece' and becoming the King of the Pirates. Along the way, he gathers a group of friends called 'Straw Hat Pirates'. Together they sail to dangerous islands, fight powerful enemies, and uncover mysteries about the sea and the world. 

For those who don't know, the Netflix series is a live-action adaptation of the manga, One Piece by Eiichiro Oda. The manga began in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997 and soon became the best-selling manga. One Piece Season 1 premiered on August 31, 2025, while Season 2 is scheduled to release on March 10, 2026.

Xolo Maridueña is an American actor who rose to fame as a child actor before moving into mainstream stardom. Reportedly, he was born and brought up in Los Angeles. Xolo began auditioning as a child and appeared in Parenthood. However, he became a household name with 'Miguel Díaz' in Cobra Kai. In 2023, Xolo made his major studio lead debut as 'Jaime Reyes', a Latino superhero in the film, Blue Beetle. Apart from his acting career, Xolo is well-known for his amazing physique.
