We are habitual of witnessing a wedding full of glitz and glam when a Bollywood celebrity gets hitched. Though in the case of actress, Yami Gautam and her director-husband, Aditya Dhar, the chances of celebration and a big fat Indian wedding were high, the duo had opted for a minimal wedding. Instead of a star-studded wedding, the couple had chosen to exchange the wedding vows in a private ceremony at Yami's hometown in Himachal Pradesh.
Taking to their respective Instagram handles, Yami and Aditya had announced their wedding on June 4, 2021. Sharing a glimpse from the wedding, they had written, "In your light, I learn to love - Rumi. With the blessings of our family, we have tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony today. Being very private people, we celebrated this joyous occasion with our immediate family. As we embark on the journey of love and friendship, we seek all your blessings and good wishes. Love, Yami and Aditya."

In a recent interview with Film Companion, Yami Gautam cited the reason behind her impromptu wedding and revealed that they did not plan it. She said, "We didn't plan it, and it happened in the most beautiful way. This is actually what I wanted, this is who we are. And I'm glad it resonated with so many people... We started interacting during the promotions of Uri. And that is when we started wooing each other, and our friendship started. It's been over two years, and we were like 'let's get married', and our families were equally happy, probably even more happy."
Yami further elaborated that she and Aditya were supposed to get engaged earlier, but then her grandmother's advice had changed her decision. She told the entertainment portal, "We were just supposed to get engaged, and then were going to let time take its due course, but my 'nani' was like 'listen, this engagement and all is not a part of our culture, so how about getting married?"

Stating the same, the actress was quoted as "And then Aditya asked me, 'Are you ready? Shall we?' I don't know what it means, honestly. I'm still not able to absorb the feeling of being married. I feel the same, maybe happier."
Earlier, in an interview with the Mid-Day, Yami Gautam's wedding planner, Gitesh Sharma, had revealed that the actress' father had contacted him just a day before the mehendi and sangeet ceremony. He had further shed light on the fact that they didn’t want a larger-than-life, glamorous wedding and had wanted the ceremonies to be conducted in a natural and traditional way.
