Yami Told Aditya Dhar That She Wished That 'She Was A Guy' As She Wanted To Be A Part Of Dhurandhar

Aditya Dhar's movie, Dhurandhar has been one of the much-talked-about movies of this year. The film, which features five actors, did extremely well at the box office and grossed Rs. 1100.23 crore globally in its 25th day of release. 

The audience has been eagerly waiting for Part 2 of the movie to be dropped in March 2026, and still, the spell Part 1 cast is lingering. From the protagonist, supporting characters to the antagonist, Dhurandhar has hit the right spots, being one of the highest-grossing Indian films of the year. Aditya Dhar surely did an amazing job, and his wife, Yami shared that she even wished to be a part of the movie. 

Yami Gautam reveals that she wished to be a guy to be a part of Dhurandhar

In an interview with News18, Yami Gautam revealed that when she first read the script, she told her husband that it was one of those rare moments, when she wished that she was a guy, as she wanted to be a part of the movie, Dhurandhar. Yami praised the brilliant script and mentioned that it's such an amazing project, while adding that she knows that the fine line between professional and personal spaces shouldn't be blurred. Yami, while talking about Dhurandhar, said:

"When I read his next script, I told him that it was one of those rare moments when I wished I was a guy. The script is so brilliant. It’s such an amazing world. Regardless, I don’t have that expectation. We respect that professional line. I don’t think that line should be blurred. We’re very clear about it."

Dhurandhar featured Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and R. Madhavan in the lead roles, with Sara Arjun being the female lead. Speaking about the cast, Yami shared that it has always been clear between her and Aditya that if he feels someone else is better for any part, then he can easily choose that actor or actress in his movie. For the unversed, Yami was mentioned on the credits slate of the movie. Yami can be quoted as saying:

"If he feels that somebody else is a better fit for a part that he’s writing, I would be absolutely fine with it. This understanding was there since the very beginning."

Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar met on the set of Uri: The Surgical Strike, and eventually, they fell in love, and their relationship blossomed. In 2021, the couple got married, and in 2024, the duo embarked on their parenthood journey by welcoming their baby boy, Vedavid.

In an interview with News18, Yami, sharing how motherhood is treating her, said she has so many emotions and has been loving it, even though it's been more than a year. She also talked about getting flashbacks of her pregnancy days. Yami stated that motherhood is treating her very well, also mentioning the fact that how much the industry has evolved, as previously actresses were asked to hide their marriage and motherhood to work in the industry, while now it's not even an issue. For the unversed, Yami, who began her career in Bollywood with he movie Vicky Donor, was last seen in the movie Haq.
