Cenzo, a London-based British-African YouTube with around 6,000 subscribers, sparked controversy online after he uploaded a video of himself eating KFC chicken inside Govinda's, which is a vegetarian restaurant affiliated with the ISKCON temple in London. The prank was part of a larger series where he was targeting vegan restaurants by bringing non-vegetarian food onto their premises. However, this video of Cenzo has gone viral, and he has been receiving a lot of backlash for hurting people's religious sentiment. Now the YouTuber has come out with an apology and explained his side of the story.
Following intense backlash, Cenzo has posted an apology video where he admitted his mistake and called the prank 'ill-timed and irresponsible.' He said he had not fully understood that the restaurant was part of a temple, despite being warned in advance by someone off-camera. He said that if he had known the restaurant was associated with the temple, he would have never filmed that prank and left.
He also claimed he had reached out to Govinda's and wished to apologise personally. In his apology video, he even attached a different video where, when he was informed the premise he had entered was actually a temple, he quickly left. He assured people that he has deep respect for every religion and his intentions were never to hurt anybody's religious sentiments.
In his apology video, Cenzo also revealed that he had taken the time to research the Hindu faith after the incident. He said now he is aware that the community believes in no violence and peaceful behaviours towards animals and people. He admitted that his actions came off as offensive to the community and he would like to offer heartfelt, sincere apologies. He also expressed remorse over the public attention brought to the staff due to his actions.
Govinda's, the restaurant where Cenzo pulled off his stunt, is not just any vegetarian restaurant; it is directly connected to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), a spiritual movement that upholds strict vegetarian values which are rooted in Hinduism. In the video, Cenzo asked the staff if it was a vegan restaurant, and when they said yes, he took out a KFC bucket and began eating from it.

Staff members were visibly distressed during the prank, especially after trying to explain that the location was a religious space and not merely a food outlet. However, Cenzo not only ate meat but also taunted the staff by offering them chicken and shouting 'Free the chicken!' before he was asked to leave. Other customers were also uncomfortable with him, and some even tried telling him what he was doing wrong, but he didn't seem to grasp it. The clip began circulation online across platforms immediately and sparked anger among the Hindu community and beyond.
Despite Cenzo's public apology, reactions towards his explanation remain mixed. While some viewers appreciated him admitting his guilt, others believed the stunt was intentional and calculated. "He was there to mock; it was purely intentional and done with a motive," one social media user commented. Another wrote, "They should have sued him for being unruly and mocking the religion." The incident continues to stir conversation online and Cenzo is still receiving backlash for the prank
What do you think about Cenzo's prank? Was it Cenzo's lack of knowledge or a planned stunt?
