Hrithik Roshan And GF, Saba Azad At Zarine Khan's Funeral, Actor Pays Respect To Ex Mother-In-Law

Sanjay Khan and his children, Sussanne and Zayed Khan, are in deep shock after the veteran actor's wife, Zarine Khan, passed away at the age of 81. Many from the film fraternity arrived to pay their respects to the deceased. Sussanne Khan's ex-husband, Hrithik Roshan, also arrived at the funeral along with his current girlfriend, Saba Azad, to pay his respect to Zarine, his former mother-in-law.

Hrithik Roshan and Saba Azad arrived at the late Zarine Khan's home to pay their respect. The couple was also accompanied by the actor's sister, Pashmina Roshan. A video shared by Viral Bhayani, showing the three walking into Zarine's residence, has gone viral. Even after his publicised split with Sussanne Khan, Hrithik had always been on cordial terms with his ex-wife and former in-laws. Even after the divorce, Hrithik had referred to his former mother-in-law, Zarine, as 'Mom'. Hence, after she breathed her last, Hrithik, Saba, and Pashmina rushed to Zarine's residence to convey their condolences and lend their support to the grieving Khan family.

Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan share a beautiful bond even after their divorce. The couple, who tied the knot in 2000 and share two sons, parted ways in 2013. There were rumours of infidelity and huge sums of alimony; however, Hrithik and Sussanne have remained the closest of friends through it all. They also co-parent their sons as a family and vacation together. According to reports, the former couple also stayed together during the COVID-19 lockdown. Even though during their divorce, many rumours swirled about their alleged messy relationship, Hrithik and Sussanne have only ever had kind words for each other. 

Zarine Khan and Hrithik Roshan had also stayed close after the actor split with her daughter. In a past interview with Filmfare, Zarine had expressed how gentle-hearted her former son-in-law was. She shared that he would have made a 'great spiritual leader' since he never got angry or held a grudge against anyone. Zarine also shared that he was the father of her grandchildren, and that they would always be a family. She was quoted as saying:

“He is the father of my grandchildren and we are bonded for life. When the divorce went through, she (Sussanne) didn’t make a hue and cry. We are a family and we always have been family and friends together.”

Zarine Khan's death and funeral 

Zarine Khan passed away on November 7, 2025, after reportedly suffering from a cardiac arrest. She was 81 years old. According to reports, Zarine had wanted to have her last rites performed as per Hindu rituals. Her family fulfilled her last wish, and Zarine's dah sanskar was performed by her son, Zayed Khan. Although Zarine had married Sanjay, she had not converted to her religion, and the Khans were an interfaith household. Apart from Zayed and Sussanne, the couple has two more children, Simone and Farah Ali Khan.
