Zarine Khan's 'Antim Sanskar', Sussanne Khan And Zayed Khan Break Down As They Mourn Mother's Death

Veteran actor, Sanjay Khan's wife, Zarine Khan (Zarine Katrak) passed away at the age of 81 due to age-related ailments. She breathed her last at her residence in Mumbai. For those who don't know, Zarine Khan was a famous name in Bollywood, but had a brief stint after appearing in Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Mali.

Zarine Khan's children break down during her last rites

Zarine Khan is survived by her husband, Sanjay Khan, and her four children — Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan. During her last rites, which were held as per Hindu customs, her children broke down as they mourned their mother's death. Zayed, who was sitting right beside his mother's body, was sobbing with folded hands. Sussanne also looked heartbroken. In the same video, the four siblings were hugging each other as they were in disbelief at their mother's death. On the other hand, Sanjay Khan was standing with folded hands.

Why did Zarine Khan's family choose her last rites to be held as per Hindu customs?

Several fans were left surprised as the Khan family chose to bid goodbye to their mother as per Hindu customs and not Muslim ones. Netizens raised their doubts in the comment section. One user wrote, "Muslim hokar hindu ki tarah kyu kiya akhri rasam." Another user penned, "Zayed Khan was raised as a muslim, so what is happening here?"

So, for those who don't know, Zarine Khan was born a Hindu. Her real name was Zarine Katrak before she married Sanjay Khan. It is worth mentioning that when she got married to Sanjay Khan, she did not convert her religion, and it is one of the major reasons her last rites were held as per Hindu customs and not her husband's Muslim religion. 

For the unversed, Zarine first met Sanjay when she was 14 years old through his mother, Bibi Fatima Begum Khan. It was in 1966 when they started dating and got married. Soon, they got blessed with four children — Sussanne Khan, Simone Khan, Farah Ali Khan and Zayed Khan. 

For those who don't know, Sanjay Khan cheated on Zarine Khan when she was expecting their son, Zayed Khan. Sanjay was involved with Zeenat Aman. During his appearance with his wife on Simi Garewal's show, Rendezvous With Simi Garewal, Zarine talked about the same. When Simi questioned Zarine about the rumours that she was pregnant with her son, Zayed, the star wife nodded.

For those who don't know, Zarine Katrak (Khan) was a famous model of her time. She made her presence felt in the entertainment industry in the 1960s. She started off her acting career as she appeared in films such as Tere Ghar Ke Samne and Ek Phool Do Mali. She had a beautiful face in the modelling world, and people were left in awe of her poise and charm. However, after marrying into a Muslim family, Zarine shifted her profession. From acting, she switched to interior design and home decor. She also wrote several cookbooks and lifestyle articles.
