Famous singer, Zubeen Garg was known for his Assamese songs and hit Bollywood ones. He is the voice behind the blockbuster hit, Ya Ali in Gangster, featuring Kangana Ranaut, which was a super hit film of Hindi cinema. Zubeen continued singing and following his passion till the last day of his life. He passed away in Singapore while scuba diving.
For the unversed, Zubeen was in Singapore to take part in the 4th North East India Festival. He was said to perform during the festival on September 20, 2025. However, destiny had other plans, and Zubeen passed away in a tragic accident. Now, his Instagram post is surfacing. He invited his fans to the festival as Cultural Brand Ambassador.
In the post, Zubeen invited his fans and friends to be part of the event, which was organised at Suntec, Singapore. He was quoted as saying:
"Friends in Singapore, I will like to invite you to 4th North East India Festival in Suntec, Singapore during 20th and 21st September. Come and explore the exotic part of India, we are carrying quality agri, craft products, tea experience, dance forms, fashion shows and evening musical show presenting Rock bands, rappers from India’s North East. I will be there throughout the Festival as Cultural Brand Ambassador and will perform on 20th evening with my popular Hindi, Bengali and Assamese Songs. I would like to invite you all, it will be Saturday and Sunday and entry is free. All come and support us. Cheers!"
Zubeen Garg's untimely death has left the entire nation mourning. He had made a huge fan following due to his singing. However, his passing in a tragic scuba diving accident in Singapore has left many in shock. According to reports, the singer fell into the sea while diving. He was soon rescued and rushed to the hospital. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, Zubeen succumbed to his injuries.
Zubeen Garg started singing at the young age of three. His first album, Anamika was released in 1992. Soon, his Assamese albums such as Maya, Zubeenor Gaan, Xabda, Pakhi, Shishu, and Jantra became a rage among people of all ages. He has also sung in Hindi films such as Dil Se, Vaastav, Fiza, Asoka, Kaante, Gangster, Krissh 3, and more. It is worth mentioning that it was his song Ya Ali from Gangster which made him a nationwide love.

For those who don't know, Zubeen had an interesting love story. He fell in love with his fan, Garima, who wrote him a letter after listening to his Assamese albums. Zubeen wrote back to her, and soon they met. They felt a connection, and they fell in love. While Garima's father opposed their relationship, she also noticed Zubeen's behaviour would not make their marriage a smooth one. So, she broke up, but they couldn't stay away for long, and they got married in 2002.
