Jaya Bachchan is well known for her tiff with the paps and unpleasant public appearances. The veteran actress might look rough from the outside, but she has a soft corner in her heart for her loved ones. Jaya and her husband, Amitabh Bachchan are blessed with two kids, Shweta and Abhishek. Time and again, she has expressed her bias towards her son and preferred him over her daughter.
In the first episode of Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast, What The Hell Navya Season 2, the star kid along with her mother, Shweta Bachchan and grandmother, Jaya Bachchan, talked about women in society. During the same, Navya asked Shweta the reason why she didn't give many opinions, and the latter replied that she didn't want to sound like an idiot. To this, Jaya extended her hand towards her daughter and said:
"She is my strength."

Reacting to this, Shweta said, "Thanks mother, that's sweet". Jaya further added that Shweta is her strength more than her son, Abhishek, and stated that the reason behind the same was that the former is a woman. In her words:
"She is, more than my son, she's my strength. I don't know whether that's because she's a woman. But she's my strength."
Soon after a clip from the podcast was shared on Reddit, netizens were shocked to see how Jaya Bachchan was supporting her daughter, Shweta Bachchan. They soon flooded the comment section and expressed their thoughts about the same. Reacting to the post, one user penned, "Lagta hain Abhishek is bedhakal from all their jaidaad." Another commented, "Because she is a woman she is your strength? What has it to do with her gender, Maybe your son is a loser who didn't achieve even 10 percent of what Aish did and that's why you think she is a strong woman."

Once, the Bachchan clan, including Amitabh, Jaya, Shweta and Abhishek, graced Simi Garewal’s chat show, Rendezvous With Simi Garewal. During the same, Shweta revealed that Jaya was partial towards Abhishek. But Jaya denied the claim and stated that her daughter often says the same. Then, Simi played an old clip of Jaya and Amitabh, in which the actress had shared that Shweta was a difficult child and got a lot of whacking from her. In her defence, Jaya said that Shweta used to answer her back, so she had to hit her.
