Anurag Kashyap is one of the most popular filmmakers in the Hindi film industry. He has directed some blockbuster films like Dobaaraa, Choked, Gangs of Wasseypur, Gangs of Wasseypur 2, Dev.D, Mumbai Cutting, Bombay Talkies and many more. Recently, his daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap got engaged to her long-time boyfriend, Shane Gregoire. Her engagement party was nothing less than a dreamy affair, and some known faces from the industry attended it. And now, the doting father shared his excitement about the same.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Anurag Kashyap opened up about his daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap's engagement. For the unversed, Aaliyah exchanged rings with her beau, Shane Gregoire on August 3, 2023. Talking about the same, the filmmaker jokingly mentioned that he is glad that he was invited to the ceremony. Anurag also stated that when he got to know about Shane's proposal through social media. Further, he added that his daughter is very much like him and his ex-wife, Aarti Bajaj. In his words:
"I am so glad I was invited. I got to know (about the proposal) through social media first, but this time I was there - I was invited. My little one grew up too fast, she has a mind of her own. She is pretty much like her mother and father, we are both stubborn people, I think she is also as stubborn and has a mind of her own."

In the same interview, Anurag mentioned that Aaliyah's engagement was not an unexpected thing as she does what she wants. The filmmaker added that he loves Aaliyah's fiance, Shane and mentioned that he is more mature than him. Elaborating more on it, Anurag said:
"She has her own thing. So it's not like that, it was expected. I am very happy, I love Shane. He is an amazing boy. He is probably much more sensible and mature than I am."
On August 4, 2023, Aaliyah had taken to her IG handle and dropped a series of pictures from her engagement ceremony. While in one picture, the bride-to-be could be seen posing happily for the camera, another picture featured the newly-engaged couple. However, it was the mushy picture of the couple that caught our attention. In the photo, Shane and Aaliyah could be seen sharing a passionate kiss and they looked simply adorable. For her special day, she was dressed in a white-coloured embroidered lehenga. On the other hand, Shane complemented her in a matching-hued kurta-pyjama which he teamed with a jacket.

For the unversed, it was on May 20, 2023, when Aaliyah had posed some dreamy pictures from her proposal on her IG handle. In the pictures, she looked happy as she flaunted her solitaire ring. However, a section of netizens brutally trolled Aaliyah for getting engaged at a young age. One of the users revealed that Aaliyah had been dropping hints about 'wanting a ring' for so long. Another netizen had commented, "Wo sab theek hai par itni bhi kya jaldi thi. She's just 22."
