January 13 and 14 is marked as the harvesting festival and is celebrated across India with different names. Somewhere it's Makar Sankranti, while in other places, it's called Pongal and in some, it's Lohri. And we are getting glimpses of this festival being celebrated by our favourite B-town stars' on their social media handles. Here's how Hema Malini and her family celebrated Pongal 2022.
Hema Malini had tied the knot with Dharmendra and is a mother of two beautiful daughters, Esha Deol Takhtani and Ahana Deol Vohra. She is a complete family person and loves to celebrate occasions with her family members at home. The COVID situation has made meeting with people and travelling a bit difficult, but the mother-daughter duo, Hema and Esha, maintained the family traditions by celebrating Pongal at their own houses.

On January 14, 2022, Hema Malini took to her IG handle and shared two pictures from her rasoi while checking on the traditional Pongal dish, kheer, a porridge made of rice, milk and jaggery, posing for the camera with a big smile. In the picture, Hema can be seen looking beautiful in a baby pink-coloured saree. Sharing the photos, the 'Dream Girl' wrote in the caption:
"Celebrated Pongal with the family today. Here I am making the pongal at home."
On the other hand, Hema and Dharmendra's elder daughter, Esha Deol Takhtani, also celebrated Pongal at her home with her family. She took to her Instagram handle to share a cute Reel, where she can also be seen preparing the same traditional dish, like her mother. Esha celebrated the occasion with her daughters, Radhya and Miraya and screamed 'Polgalo Pongal' as they were preparing the dish. She wrote a beautiful caption to it while sending warm wishes to her followers, which can be read as:
"As the country celebrates the harvest festivals of Sakranti, Pongal, Bihu and Uttarayan. I always make pongal at home for my family (a tradition I learnt from my grandmother) sweet pongal is a favourite with my kids and we all love screaming together 'polgalo pongal' as it's being cooked. Sending warm wishes to you and your loved ones. Stay blessed."

As soon as she shared the video on her social media handle, her daddy dearest, Dharmendra, wished his daughter in the comment section, "Happy Pongal" with a folded hands emoji. To this, with a heart emoticon, Esha responded:
"happy pongal papa."
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Esha Deol Takhtani had revealed that her mother, Hema Malini spoils her grandchildren with gifts and an immense amount of love. She had said:
"As a grandmother she's extremely sweet. She breaks the rules we set up for our kids. With her around, they do all the things they're not supposed to do. My daughters raid her dressing table. Nani lets them use her lipstick, her make-up, wear her shoes… I don't deprive the children of screen time but there's a limit. But with Nani they keep on playing games."
