Amid the breakups that are happening in the life of our much loved celebs, another couple who is said to be inching towards splitsville is South superstar Rajnikanth’s daughter Soundarya and her industrialist husband Ashwin Kumar. According to several reports, Soundarya has filed for divorce at a family court in Chennai.

It has been reported that the couple’s relationship hit rough waters a few years ago itself.
Some reports also suggest that the two have had difference of opinion for some time now. Soundarya and Ashwin got married in 2010 and are parents to an adorable baby boy named Ved who turned one recently.

It is said that Ashwin was contacted by a leading daily for comments on the matter but he chose stay mum and Soundarya on the other hand was unavailable.
But courtesy the extensive media coverage Sundarya and Ashwin's troubled marriage received, Soundarya came forward and confirmed the news of her separation and divorce.

She tweeted:
News about my marriage is true. We have been separated for over a year and divorce talks are on. I request all to respect my family’s privacy,
A leading daily also mentioned that Tollywood’s Thalaivar, Rajnikanth visited Soundarya for a few days after his US visit just to pacify her and have her re-consider the decision of separating. But Soundarya is said to have turned down his advice and gone ahead with legal proceedings.

As we are still trying to believe this news, we chanced upon a pic of the couple in happier times, just a year ago. Soundarya’s husband, Ashwin shared a picture on his Twitter account for a charity event that was hosted in Chennai and we must say they looked happy as ever.
Before tying the knot on September 3, 2010, Ashwin and Soundarya had known each other for almost four years. At the moment, neither Ashwin nor Rajnikanth for that matter, have come forward to say anything on this news, but Soundarya's tweet is quite clear about the divorce.
