Taking to the discussion portal, Reddit, a netizen shared an old headline about the lovely couple, Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta, that was widely circulated back in the day. It claimed that the actress married the industrialist for the sake of money. For the unversed, Juhi and Jay formed their relationship on the foundation of grief. They crossed paths at a time when Jay had just lost his first wife, Sujata Birla, who died in a tragic plane crash. On the other hand, Juhi too, back then, had lost her mother in a road accident. Their mutual grief and compassion towards one another made their equation grow stronger.

Now, such a claim about the actress isn’t true since Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta were madly in love with one another before they tied the knot. In many of her interviews, the actress narrated various instances from her love story, where her beloved husband surprised her with flowers and gifts every day. Moreover, they often flew down together on various vacations, stealing moments from her busy schedule. Narrating the same, several netizens took to the comment section and revealed how such claims were untrue. While one internet user wrote, “He was a widower who lost his wife tragically. Juhi gave him a lot of emotional support”, another netizen commented, “They are still together. So whatever was the reason, love/money/anything is immaterial. They found ways to stick together, and that’s all that matters.”
Previously, in one of her interviews with a leading publication, Juhi Chawla shared an unheard anecdote about her love story with Jay Mehta. The actress talked about her hubby’s habit of presenting her with gifts almost every day. She narrated an instance when Jay presented her with a truckload of roses on her birthday. She said:
“Everywhere I looked, he was there with flowers and notes and gifts. Every day! On my birthday, I remember he sent me a truckload of red roses. I was like, ‘What do you do with a truckload of flowers?’ He really did all he could. After a year, he proposed.”

In one of her interviews with Rajeev Masand, Juhi Chawla divulged the reason behind hiding her wedding with Jay Mehta from the world for a long time, until she was pregnant with their first child. The actress remarked that she got married at a time when she was at the peak of her career, and just settled down successfully. Nevertheless, she had apprehensions about her marriage having an adverse impact on her newly built career, so she decided to keep it a secret. In her words:
“At that time, you did not have the internet and you did not have cameras on every phone, so you could do it that way. I was just about established and doing well. That’s the time Jay was serenading me and I was afraid of losing my career just when I had kind of got there. I wanted to carry on and this seemed the midway.”
