South Korean actor, Lee Sun Kyun impressed everyone with his impeccable skills in the Oscar-winning film, Parasite. The actor has been part of several Korean dramas and films like Helpless, All About My Wife, A Hard Day and more. Lee Sun Kyun was currently undergoing a drug trial for suspected consumption of drugs like marijuana and other psychoactive drugs.
On December 27, 2023, Lee Sun Kyun was found unresponsive in his car, which was parked near Waryong Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The authorities found his car around 10:30 AM, and on further investigation, it was announced that the actor was no more. Lee Sun Kyun was undergoing a drug trial and was reportedly disturbed by the same. He previously spoke to the reporters about the ongoing drug case and added:
"I sincerely apologise for causing great disappointment to many people by being involved in such an unpleasant incident, I feel sorry for my family, which is enduring such difficult pain at this moment. Once again, I sincerely apologise to everyone."

Lee Sun Kyun was reportedly quite distressed regarding the ongoing drug trial case. He has repeatedly expressed his dismay on the issue. The actor also requested a lie detector test to prove his innocence against the drug peddlers who were blackmailing him. Talking about his innocence, the actor divulged:
"I hope the police will judiciously determine who between me and the blackmailers holds credibility in their statements."
Lee Sun Kyun's agency, HODU&U, has expressed its grief for the actor's untimely demise. The agency also requested privacy for the family and respectfully asked people to refrain from spreading false rumours against the deceased. They also revealed that the actor's funeral will be held privately with only family and colleagues in attendance. HODU&U also added:
"We are sorry to share bad news. Actor Lee Sun Kyun passed away on December 27. There are no words to contain our sorrow and grief. Please respectfully refrain from spreading false information via speculation or malicious statements so that the final path of the deceased will not be unfair. The funeral will be held quietly with the deceased's bereaved family and colleagues. We express our deepest condolences to the deceased."

Lee Sun Kyun was married to actress, Jeon Hye Jin, who was left heartbroken after her husband's death. The couple has two sons who are still too young to understand the situation. Jeon Hye Kyun revealed that her husband had left behind a suicide note which resembled a lot like his will. She further added:
"My husband had left the house after writing a note that resembles a will."
