Television actor, Nakuul Mehta and his singer-wife, Jankee Parekh are one of the cutest couples in the entertainment industry. While Nakuul is one of the leading actors in the television industry, Jankee, on the other hand, is a professional singer, stage performer and voiceover artist. The doting couple embraced parenthood in 2021 with the arrival of their baby boy, Sufi.
In a recent conversation, Nakuul Mehta talks about how he and Jankee defied gender roles when they started dating each other. During his appearance on the show, Be a Man Yaar, Nakuul revealed how Jankee taught him to be an equal partner. Recalling their initial dating days, Nakuul said:
“We were never the traditional man-woman in a relationship. In three-four years of our relationship, she was paying more income tax than I was earning. She comes from a very well-to-do family; I’m from a service class background. We got married, I didn’t have a job. My bank saving were under Rs 1 lakh. She decided to trust in a person, right?

In the same conversation, Nakuul also stated how she used to drop him home after their dates. Stating how gender roles never played any role in the relationship, Nakuul shared:
“In fact, when we started dating, she used to drop me home and then she used to drive home. Whoever had the money on the particular date used to pay. She’s never made me feel less of a man because I’m not successful, and there have been many parts of my life when I haven’t been.”
Nakuul Mehta and Jankee Parekh are the perfect examples of a fairytale love. When Nakuul had first seen Jankee, he was just 18 and had thought about how amazing his life would be if she would agree to marry him. He had always known that she was the one destined for him. After dating each other for 9 years, the two had gotten married on January 28, 2012.

In an interview with Elle India, Nakuul and Jankee shared their love story. Revealing how their story is straight out of a Nicholas Sparks' novel, Nakuul revealed:
“Our story is a ‘straight out of a Nicholas Sparks novel meets Amit Trivedi music on Anurag Basu visuals’ kind of story. I met Jankee at a Shiamak Davar Dance Summer Camp right after she graduated from her 10th and I had finished my 12th. It was love at every sight for me, and it kept growing until I managed to make awkward introductions. I played the proverbial best friend whilst making every effort to win acquiescence. She eventually relented, and I hope she doesn’t regret that too much.”
On the professional front, Nakuul Mehta was last seen in the show, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 3.
