After that, in 2003, Lara stepped into Bollywood with the movie, Andaaz and won hearts of many with her acting prowess. Apart from that, she was also seen in movies like Masti, No Entry, Bhagam Bhag, Partner, Housefull, and Chalo Dilli among others. However, being contemporary to Priyanka Chopra, as well as her co-star in Andaaz and competitor in the Miss India pageant back in 2000, Lara often made the headlines with her rivalry rumours with the former. And now, as Lara turned 46 years older on April 16, 2024, Priyanka wished her with an adorable post.
Taking to her IG handle, Priyanka Chopra extended a cutesy birthday wish for Lara Dutta. She posted an adorable photo of Lara, wherein the latter could be seen flaunting her timeless beauty in soft and dewy makeup. Sharing the photo, Priyanka penned:
"Happy birthday Lara paaji, wishing the best for you always."

There had been rumours that Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra didn't get along with one another on the Andaaz set. While neither of the two actresses ever paid any attention to the speculations, recently, the filmmaker, Suneel Darshan talked about the same. Talking about Lara, in an interview with Times Now, Suneel debunked the rumours about the actress being recommended by Akshay Kumar in Andaaz. He mentioned that casting the actress was entirely his decision. Suneel also heaped praises on Lara and called her extremely professional.
In the same interview, Suneel Darshan was asked about the much-hyped rivalry between Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra. To this, he stated that there had never been any kind of rivalry between the two actresses, and the difference was that while Lara was confident, Priyanka was determined to achieve success. The filmmaker also mentioned that the two actresses were not great friends with one another, but they respected each other, and the rumours about their rivalry were baseless. Sharing that Priyanka was more ambitious among the two, Suneel stated:
"The difference between Lara and Priyanka can be summed up as this: Lara was supremely confident while Priyanka was obsessively determined to succeed. There was never any rivalry between them. They were not great friends. But they liked and respected one another. That whole rivalry was media-made. Both the debutantes had equally well-defined roles. Both were expected to become superstars. But Priyanka raced ahead. She was definitely the more ambitious of the two."
For the unversed, Priyanka Chopra, Dia Mirza, and Lara Dutta were three competitors in the Miss India pageant back in 2000. Talking about the same, Priyanka, in an interview with Simi Garewal once stated that she and Dia used to refer to Lara as 'mom' as the latter used to help them in terms of clothing and makeup.

Later, Lara confirmed the same in a different interview with Simi and gave a moving statement while stating that life often bestows people with limited opportunities to leave a positive mark on someone else's life, and if she can't be there for someone else, then she's not truly living.
