Raveena Tandon on how the 90s actors formed bonds, reveals they used to know all kinds of gossip about each other

A Reddit user now shared the screengrab of an interview of Raveena Tandon along with the Film Companion, wherein she walked down the memory lanes and revealed certain unknown anecdotes from her 90s shooting days. She was heard saying that since there were no other forms of entertainment like smartphones or luxury vans, the co-stars used to sit together and gossip. Thus, it led them to know in detail about everyone's life stories, including the hero's side flings, things happening in their marriages, and many more. This is how, according to Raveena, the stars of that time used to form unbreakable bonds. Raveena can be quoted as saying:

“We knew everyone’s life stories, which hero we were working with, who is he having an affair with , whose wife beat up whom, we knew everything about each other. That is bond, whoever started in the 90s clan has even now. We are all friends and we all stand by each other. We keep encouraging each other, whether its Madhuri, me, Neelam, Sonali or Shilpa. Encouraging each other’s projects on social media. We might not meet everyday but we definitely have that love, bond and respect for each other.”

Raveena once talked about being body-shammed in the 90s by the women who now call themselves 'so-called feminists'

In a previous interview with Smita Prakash, Raveena Tandon once revealed how she was badly body-shamed by the women, who have now turned into big feminists. Further, she opened up about the mean comments made on her at that time, despite the actress being a quintessential symbol of sensuality during the '90s. Then, the actress mentioned how she can easily start telling stories about the gossip writers, and said:

"90s gossip magazines were the worst. And some of those women, now I see, roaming around today carrying the women's lib badge over their heads and hearts, who were the worst enemies of women, who body-shamed women, slut shamed women and would do everything possible to bring another woman down. Today they roam around being as biggest feminists, I wonder when did that happen? If I start telling stories about them....(chuckles)."

Raveena revealed how the 90s gossip writers used to clarify false things at that time

In the same conversation, Raveena revealed she was only 16 and a half years old when she had started her film career. Thus, she was a chubby baby at the initial periods of her film career. So, she was titled with many names, including "90s ke kholo, TTs, thunder thighs". She also claimed that the 90s editors used to ruin the heroines' careers according to the hero's wishes. However, Raveena also mentioned how, at that time, the writers used to ask for an apology after publishing the false news. Elaborating on the same, Raveena stated:

"Instead of supporting women, what they did was...firstly all these women editors would fall in love with the heroes. And what the heroes said were the last words. If he wanted to pan a woman, the woman would be panned, shamed, literally, her career ruined in the magazines with nasty articles being put out about her. There were so many untrue articles put out because some hero went and said, 'Acha, uske bare me aab aisa likh do...' and it would be the last word. And if there would be an apology, that would be on the last line of some other issues of the magazine, it would be written 'the story carried earlier ultimately proved not to be true'. And who will read that then? At that time the screaming headlines already made the news, right?"
