Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar could easily be hailed as the 'IT' couple of Bollywood from their time. For those who don't know, Saira got married to the man of her dreams, Dilip Kumar, on October 11, 1966. The much-in-love duo's love story was nothing less than a Cinderella Story. However, after a blissful marital life of 55 years, Saira and Dilip's togetherness came to an end as the latter bid goodbye to the world on July 7, 2021. A few months ago, Saira made her Instagram debut, and since then, she has been sharing some unseen glimpses and unheard anecdotes about Dilip Sahib, and yet the same happened again as on October 11, 2023, the veteran actress marked her 57th wedding anniversary with the man of her dreams.

Taking to her IG handle, Saira Banu dropped an unseen video from her and Dilip Kumar's wedding. The video, which was actually a compilation of several short clips from their wedding ceremonies, featured the diva's voice in the background. As the video began, we can hear Saira saying:

"So here began my dreams, the dreams of Cinderella."

Further in the video, Saira Banu revealed that ever since she was a young girl, she wished to marry Dilip Kumar. The actress mentioned that in her mind, she was continuously thinking about how to be a good wife, and her object was to make her husband happy. In the concluding segment of the video, Saira Banu revealed how it takes two people to make an ideal relationship. Sharing the video, Saira penned a long note, wherein, she thanked her fans for showering love upon her posts about Dilip Kumar.

Further in her note, Saira Banu revealed she was often questioned about what it is like to get married to Dilip Kumar. The diva mentioned that she and her husband often used to tell people that it is somewhat like 'sharing a throne without having to slog for it.' Calling her marriage with Dilip Kumar a real Cinderella story, Saira said:

"People have often asked me...What was it like to be married to Dilip Kumar Sahib...the 'SHAHENSHAH' and I always told them, It felt “Like Sharing a Throne without having to slog for it!”. It’s a real Cinderella Story! It isn’t every day that a girl is lucky enough to be married to the man of her dreams. It would be too difficult to enlarge on this… my life with him. It would take pages and pages. In fact a book."

In the last two paras of her note, Saira Banu heaped praises on her darling hubby and talked about his areas of interest, including Persian Poetry, anthropology, international affairs, and more, apart from films only. The actress shared that her husband has not only been a guide to her but to a lot of people who remained exemplified by the actor's gracious presence and personality.

Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar's marriage

For the unversed, right from the age of 12, Saira Banu was smitten by Dilip Kumar. Moreover, it was Saira Banu's mother, Naseem Banu, who played a cupid in Dilip Shaib and Saira's Cinderella story. They got married in the year 1966 when the actress was only 22, and Dilip was 44.
