Fashion designer, Seema Sajdeh and her ex-husband, Sohail Khan once used to be hailed as the much-loved couple in Bollywood. The duo got married in 1998. And they are parents to their sons, Nirvaan and Yohan. However, after 24 years of marital bliss, their paradise hit a rough phase, and they got separated. The ex-couple filed for divorce on May 13, 2022. In a recent interview, Seema opened up about her divorce with Sohail and revealed the reason behind the same.
In a podcast with Shivani Pau, Seema Sajdeh was asked about the particular moment when she decided that she had to end her marriage with Sohail Khan. To this, the fashion designer mentioned that she doesn't want to blame it on her ex-husband. She said during that time, the situation left her to choose one from her marriage and son. Seema stated that her son, Nirvaan was going down a path that scared her. Revealing how she decided to focus on her son, Seema stated:
"Why should I blame him, it suited both of us. Our son Nirvan was at that age where he didn’t want it but there came a time when I had to choose between my marriage and my son. My son was going down a path that I was very scared of. One morning I woke up and realised that either I focus all my energies on saving this marriage, or my son. That’s when I decided and chose him.”

Speculations were rife that Seema Sajdeh and her ex-husband, Sohail Khan divorce could be a case of the involvement of any third person in their relationship. Now, in the same interaction, Seema revealed whether there was “other woman” involved in her decision to break her marriage. She said that it was a mutual decision of them for the well-being of their kids. Seema shared:
"I made a choice. When two people are in a situation where both of them are not happy, when there is constant fighting, the fallout is always the kids. You don’t realise that in that phase of your life, time passes so quickly, kids grow up quicky, you don’t realise when you have done damaged there (on the kids). The kids are collateral damage. So, it was a conscious decision for him."
Seema also mentioned that parents often don't realise how much damage they have done to their kids, with the fact that couples decide to stick together even when they are not happy with each other. Seema shared how she and Sohail were separated for a few years before the paperwork and got divorced only after their son, Nirvaan said yes to it. Seema said:
“Honestly, divorce is a piece of paper. We lived separately for quite a few years and it was fine. Nirvan was going to school, he had many conversations with me, then he went to the university and said, ‘Mumma I am ok now, you can go ahead.’ That’s when I decided that ok now is the time I can get divorced. It was just paperwork."

Going further in the conversation, the host asked Seema Sajdeh about being affected by negative comments on her personal life. To this, the fashion designer said that everyone has an opinion and people should just learn to deal with them. Seema also mentioned that she had to learn it the hard way. Talking more about the negative comments that she had to face, Seema mentioned that if those cheap comments are directed towards her, she can tackle them, but if in any way those comments mention her family or kids, it bothers her immensely.
After her divorce from Sohail Khan, Seema Sajdeh also removed 'Khan' from her name and instead returned to her maiden name, Seema Kiran Sajdeh. For the unversed, Seema Sajdeh and Sohail Khan first met on sets of the film, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya in 1998. Later on, they eloped and got married.
