Shilpa Shetty landed in trouble and received a lot of criticism during a public event, which was organised to create awareness about AIDS. American actor, Richard Gere was also invited, and things went kaboom after Richard Gere forcefully kissed Shilpa. The actress was also left in shock, and she wasn't able to do anything about it. Later, a case was lodged against her, and an arrest warrant was issued against Richard by Judge Dinesh Gupta, who was later transferred from his job in May 2007.
Recently, a Reddit user posted an old video of Shilpa being kissed by Richard. The incident happened on April 15, 2007, when Richard and Shilpa came together for an event. During the event, after Shilpa introduced Richard, he greeted the audience, and in order to greet Shilpa, he first kissed her on the cheeks. Then forcefully planted a number of kisses on the actress' cheeks in order to spread a message that kissing was safe, but later it seemed he got out of control and forced himself upon her. On the other hand, Shilpa looked overwhelmed and kept laughing without understanding what she would have done.

As soon as the video was uploaded, netizens flooded the comments section. One user expressed how Shilpa should have taken a stand. Another one wrote, "She might have been just overwhelmed and confused at that time. Not knowing what to do or how to react. Give her some slack, "She is in the grey for allowing that. American culture is far worse. He possibly is on Epstein's list." One user also quotioned, "Did she do anything about it later ? I understand in moment things happen so fast we don't get time to react. But seeing this industry it's pretty common. Later they'll say 4-5 years later me too."
