Shraddha Kapoor is one of the most stunning actresses of her generation. Her gentle behaviour and charming smile never miss a chance to captivate millions of hearts of her fans. However, she was once rejected by Bollywood actor-cum-her childhood friend, Varun Dhawan. Explaining the same, she shared that the Bollywood duo were childhood friends, and despite having a crush on one another, their love was never transformed into a relationship. For the unversed, Shraddha and Varun worked together in multiple movies, including ABCD 2, and Street Dancer 3D, among others.
Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Dhawan's respective fathers, Shakti Kapoor and David Dhawan would often take them on outdoor shoots. During one such schedule, Shraddha, who was just an eight-year-old then, decided to reveal her feelings for Varun to him. Talking about the same in a conversation with a leading daily in 2015, the actress mentioned her unique way of proposing to him. However, she mentioned how the actor had instantly said a 'No' to him and shared:
“I was only eight, and I had a crush on Varun. So, I thought I should just tell him. I decided to say ‘I love you’ backwards. So, I told Varun that I am saying a sentence backwards, and he must listen carefully. Then I said ‘You – love –I’. I think it was too complicated for a little boy to understand because he gave me a stern ‘No’, and just ran away from there. It’s been a joke between us ever since.”

For the unknown, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor went to the same primary schools, and thus, they share many lovely memories from their childhood. Earlier, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan during the promotion of their then-upcoming film, ABCD 2, Varun also revealed how he had a crush on Shraddha when they were little. Though the fondness was mutual, the actor said he never expressed his feelings to Shraddha. He said,
“Actually, jo humari bachpan ki story hai, woh film ki story se bohot milti-julti hai. Bachpan mein kaafi takraar hota tha, inter-school problem hota tha aur thoda-thoda chhupa hua fondness bhi that. I think at that age, boys don’t like girls. Bohot chhote the hum, samajh mein nahi aaya mujhe.”
Soon, Siddharth Kannan asked Shraddha if she would have accepted his proposal if he had asked her on a date back then. To this, the actress added, “Actually, I only liked Varun,” and mentioned that she could not see beyond him at that age. However, Varun quickly jumped into the conversation and explained if the love story ended after that. The actor mentioned that since then, they have become true friends. In Varun's words:
“It was very pure. Agar humara love story hua bhi toh 8-9 saal ki umar mein hua tha. Uske baad dosti ho gayi, bohot achchi dosti.”
Coming to Varun Dhawan's personal life, he tied the knot to his childhood sweetheart, Natasha Dalal, on January 24, 2021. They keep on sharing lovely glimpses from their lives. For instance, to mark their third wedding anniversary, Varun took to his IG handle on January 24, 2024, and shared an unseen picture with his wife, Natasha. The picture was from the time when the actor proposed to his ladylove. In the picture, while the actor was seen pointing towards his then-girlfriend, Natasha, on the other hand, flaunted her pretty ring. Along with the picture, Varun penned a caption that read as:
“Happy 3 baby… throwback to three-and-a-half years back when I proposed while Mark Anthony's song played.”

Talking about Shraddha Kapoor's personal life has always grabbed a lot of attention. But she always managed to keep mum about the same. Earlier, she was speculated to be dating her Aashiqui 2 co-star, Aditya Roy Kapur. Ahead of that, it was also speculated that she was dating celebrity photographer, Rohan Shrestha. But it's worth mentioning that Shraddha never accepted or denied the speculations.
On July 3, 2023, Shraddha was spotted with her rumoured boyfriend, Rahul Modi, as they reportedly met for dinner. Although the duo was not papped together in a place, the netizens didn't miss a chance to speculate the same after seeing them in the exact location. A report by the Hindustan Times revealed that the rumoured couple came close while working on the film, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, and now their bonding has been growing stronger than ever.
