Alyy Khan opened up about the disparities in Indian and Pakistani entertainment industry

Alyy Khan recently appeared on Maliha Rehman’s YouTube channel, and the duo divulged in conversations about the actor’s time in Bollywood, Lollywood, and Alyy’s life as an actor. The actor also shared his insights into the work cultures of the entertainment industries in India and his home country, Pakistan. During their conversation, the host mentioned that several Pakistani actors have time and again said that they don’t get enough recognition and fame until they work abroad, especially in India, and asked Alyy if he ever felt the same. Alyy said:

“Meri rihayish aur parwarish India ki hi rahi, maine apni career ki shuruwat bhi wahi se ki. Allah tala ne jo izzat di wo initially wahi se mili hai. Toh main jab Pakistan mein aaya tab main ‘nearly famous category’ mein tha. Toh yahan ke actors jo face karte hai, uska muqabla mujhe nahi karna pada. I was already repurted as an actor aur yahan aane se pehle maine na sird India mein but I have worked in other industries around the world.”

Alyy Khan said that Pakistani people do not support their own artists

Further into the conversation, Alyy acknowledged the challenges faced by Pakistani actors and emphasised the importance of working abroad for success. He also talked about how the Pakistani public does not support their own people easily. Alyy mentioned that after an actor works in other industries, their reputation suddenly increases amongst the public. He said:

“Pakistan ki awaam apne logo ko stars bade asaani se nhi banate. Jab wo India jate hai and unko sarahaya jata hai, suddenly unki value local awaam mein increase ho jati hai and then they start looking at them through different coloured lenses.”

Alyy Khan mentioned that there is a lack of professionalism in Pakistani showbiz

During the same conversation, Maliha asked Alyy about the work culture in Bollywood. She asked him if things happened on time and if the cast and crew got more facilities. Alyy then emphasised the misconception about budgets and stressed the importance of exposure. He compared the success of the 2007 movie, Bheja Fry, which was produced on a low budget, to the high-budget commercial shoots in Pakistan that lack professionalism. Alyy pointed out that despite the high budgets, the work culture in the Pakistani film industry needs improvement. He said:

“Yahan pe aap jab commercials shoot karne jate hai, commercials ke budget bade hai, magic light ye wo, aap 5 baje aa jayein set pe, sab 5 baje pohonch jate hai set pe par kaam karne ka tareeka utna hi dheela hai. Actual work is not happening the way it should happen. Ho raha hai, hota jaiga lekin jab tak a bigger pool of talent doesn’t get professionally trained, which can happen with exposure, that’s not going to filter down to people who are working hands on, who actually need to get the work done.”
