The well-known ‘Princess of Pop’, Britney Spears, is again in the headlines, this time because of the reports of divorce from her third husband, Sam Asghari. As per reports by TMZ, the 41-year-old singer is heading for a divorce from her 29-year-old husband after almost a year of marriage.
TMZ reported on August 17, 2023, that all is not well between the couple, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari, and they have decided to part ways. For the unversed, the couple got hitched in June 2022. After almost 14 months, both individuals decided to walk in separate ways stating ‘irreconcilable differences' as the reason behind their split.

Both Britney and Sam were seen without their wedding rings. Sam Asghari uploaded a post on his Instagram handle where he gave an update on his mother’s health. He was seen without his wedding ring in the photo. At the same time, Britney was spotted driving where she was pictured without her ring, further confirming that all was not well between the couple.
According to sources with first-hand information, there has been a recent heated argument between Britney Spears and Sam Asghari involving allegations of cheating. TMZ has learned that Sam confronted Britney about rumours of her walking out on him a week ago. It's unclear if these rumours are true, but Sam believed them, and the two had an argument. Sam has since left their home and is now living on his own.
Recent reports from TMZ also suggest that the marriage between the couple had been facing significant challenges for the past several months. Sam has not been spending much time at home, and there have been physical fights during their frequent arguments. Despite having a prenuptial agreement to protect her assets, sources suggest that Britney may have to pay Sam financially to finalise their separation.

TMZ has obtained paperwork that suggests Sam has asked Britney for ‘spousal support’ and attorneys' fees. After the end of Britney's conservatorship, her legal team took steps to protect her assets. According to reports, she also agreed to a prenuptial agreement before getting married to safeguard her wealth. Sam’s attorney, Neal Hersh, stated that some financial issues still require resolution. He stated:
“(Sam) has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party. There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to (Sam) at this time.”
Page Six has reported that Britney Spears has appointed Laura Wasser as her divorce lawyer. The latter is renowned for representing high-profile clients like Kim Kardashian, Kevin Costner, and Johnny Depp. A source close to Britney Spears told DailyMail.com that the news that Sam Asghari is threatening to publish something ‘extraordinarily embarrassing’ about his spouse if she doesn't renegotiate the terms is absolutely ‘absurd’.
The Iranian-American model, Sam Asghari and the American pop singer, Britney Spears first met while collaborating on the song, Slumber Party in 2016. In the music video, Sam played Britney's love interest, and their on-screen chemistry translated off-screen as well. Sam has also appeared in various TV shows such as Black Monday, The Family Business, Hacks, and NCIS. On June 9, 2022, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari tied the knot at her Thousand Oaks residence. Britney and Sam are not parents, but Britney has two sons from her former marriage to Kevin Federline.
There has been no official statement by either of the parties on the reports of divorce.
