Rekha’s personal life has been one of the most-gossiped matters ever in Bollywood. The diva, who had won hearts with her impeccable performances and drop-dead gorgeous looks had often hit the headlines with her personal life. Apart from her marriage with Mukesh Aggarwal, which ended on a traumatic note post the latter committed suicide, Rekha had grabbed the spotlight for her multiple affairs and relationships, which included Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Mehra, Raj Babbar and others. Amongst all, she also dated her co-actor, Kiran Kumar for a brief period during the 1970s. While they never spoke about their relationship in public back then, years later, Kiran Kumar opened up about his bonding with Rekha.
In a recent interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Kiran Kumar spoke up about his past, especially about his rumoured ladylove, Rekha. When asked about Rekha’s controversial statement in Stardust Magazine about him being a ‘mumma’s boy who drank a glass of milk before bed’, Kiran revealed that the former was in fact, one of the loveliest people he ever crossed paths with. Heaping praises on Rekha’s beauty, Kiran mentioned:
“Rekha ji is a lovely person, she has a heart of gold and the face of a diva, I fail to understand how she can manage to look the way she looks now, after all these years. She’s a person I have a lot of reverence for. I haven’t crossed paths with her in a long time, but she’s somebody whom I’ll always cherish in my heart, that’s it.”

In the same interaction, Kiran Kumar was asked if Rekha’s presence in his life during their relationship impacted him in any way as a person. To this, Kiran thoughtfully responded how each of his past relationships has helped him evolve in a specific way, and the ladies of his life have equally contributed to the way in which he stands now. In his words:
“Nobody has helped me grow. I’m responsible for my own growth… All the women I’ve met in my life, each one has helped me evolve as a person. All of them. There isn’t one person in particular who has made me grow. My successes are my own, my failures are own. I won’t attribute them to anybody.”
Back during the time of their relationship, there was once a publication issued by the 1975-issue of Stardust Magazine, which revealed an anecdote from Rekha and Kiran’s relationship. It mentioned how the former used to imitate the voice of the latter’s ex-girlfriends on call so as to annoy him. However, fast forward to today, Kiran simply denied any such incident having occurred, and instead revealed how a lady like Rekha could’ve never done so. He said:
“Nothing like this ever happened. I don’t even know who this ex-girlfriend could have been. I don’t know anything about this. She is too big a person to do that. She would never demean somebody. She never did anything like this, nor would she ever do it in the future.”

In the concluding segment of the interview, Kiran Kumar was asked if he would want to reconnect with Rekha after so many years. To this, Kiran mentioned that although he would love to do so, nevertheless it doesn’t mean he would call her up and start flattering her, so as to get an opportunity to meet her. Calling it a matter of destiny, Kiran added that he would love to connect with Rekha, the woman with a heart of gold, just as friends.
