Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is considered the God of Indian cricket and is one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. Born in Dadar, Bombay, on April 24, 1973, to Marathi novelist and poet, Ramesh Tendulkar and his wife, Rajni, Sachin always wanted to become a cricketer. He began his career at the age of 16, and since then, the 'Master Blaster' has created innumerable records.
Sachin Tendulkar is definitely the undisputed king of cricket and has always ruled the ground. But the one who rules his heart is his better half, Anjali Tendulkar. In 1995, Sachin Tendulkar got married to the love of his life, Anjali Mehta. In 1997, Sachin and Anjali were blessed with their first child, Sara Tendulkar, and their son, Arjun Tendulkar, was born in 1999.

Anjali has always been Sachin’s strength through all his highs and lows. Despite being six years older than Sachin, age never came in the way of their relationship. Do you know it was Anjali who approached Sachin because she thought him to be cute? In a throwback interview, Anjali talked about her love story with Sachin Tendulkar.
Talking to Harsha Bhogle during an event, Anjali Tendulkar recalled falling in love with Sachin Tendulkar. She revealed that she didn’t even know who he was when she saw him for the first time. It was Anjali’s friend, who told her about the wonder boy of Indian cricket. Revealing how she approached Sachin, Anjali shared:
“I had no interest in cricket. I saw him. I thought he was really cute and I ran after him. In those days at the airport there was a viewing gallery, so I was actually looking for my mom who was supposed to have landed from England. I forgot about my mother. I ran after him screaming Sachin! Sachin! Ajit and Nitin were there with him and Sachin was so embarrassed. He was only looking down, he didn’t even look at me.”
While Anjali was narrating the whole incident, Sachin interrupted her and said that the only thing he looked at was the colour of her T-shirt. Narrating how she got Sachin’s telephone number and told him about her feelings, Anjali continued:
“Well, I was studying medicine and I was in my final year. I go to college the next day and by then I had been told he is a cricketer. My friend was studying with me and he also played cricket. I caught him and I said, ‘you have to do one thing for me. You have to get me Sachin Tendulkar’s number.’ So his cousin was there mother and he got me the number. I called Sachin and Sachin never used to pick up the phone. But that day he picked up the phone.”
When Sachin picked up Anjali’s call, she introduced herself to him and revealed that she was the same girl who had met him at the airport. Hearing her, Sachin said that he remembered her, and Anjali asked him what she was wearing when she met him at the airport. To Anjali’s surprise, Sachin answered and said, "You were wearing an orange T-shirt." At that moment, Anjali realized that he, too, noticed her.

Since Sachin was a very popular cricketer, going out on dates with Anjali wasn’t easy for him. While giving an interview to a magazine, Anjali recalls an incident from their dating days, where the two of them went to watch the film, Roja along with a few common friends. To avoid all the attention, Sachin went to watch the movie in disguise, wearing a false beard and specs. They entered the movie theatre a little late, but during the interval of the film, his specs fell, and the cricketer was surrounded by his fans. And because of this, Sachin and Anjali had to leave the movie halfway.
Anjali Tendulkar is six years older than Sachin Tendulkar, but the age gap has never come between their relationship. The madly-in-love couple dated each other for five years and got married on May 24, 1995. Anjali had no knowledge of cricket before marrying Sachin, but she made efforts to learn everything about the game.

After embracing motherhood, Anjali Tendulkar left her career as a successful paediatrician to manage her home. In an interview with a leading publication, Anjali revealed that she never had any regrets about leaving her successful career. Elaborating on the same, Anjali shared:
“I could not be married to Sachin and also have a full-time career. It wasn't possible because he depends on me for almost everything. It was my decision. With Sachin not around and me with two kids at home, it wouldn't have been possible. I took a decision and I have never, ever regretted it."
Sachin Tendulkar is the pride of India and has inspired millions. But the reason behind his stupendous victory is the woman who has seen his tears and sweat, and that is none other than his soulmate, Anjali Tendulkar.
