Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik were once hailed as the power couple. Their cross-border love story inspired many. However, their love story ended with a tragic turn, and if rumours are to be believed, Shoaib Malik's extra-martial affair became the major reason for them to part ways. From the beginning, Sania tried to keep her personal life away from the media glares, but Shoaib Malik's sudden wedding with Sana Javed created havoc in Pakistani and Indian media. Later, it was Sania's father, Imran Mirza, who confirmed that his daughter had taken a Khula, an Islamic term for women who initiate divorce from her husband.
On January 28, 2024, Sania took to her Instagram handle and shared a glimpse of her work day, after all the limelight was shifted to her divorce news. The picture is from Sania attending the Australian Open. The former Tennis player was decked up in a long black gown with a black coat over it. She gave out 'boss lady' vibes with her hair tied in a high ponytail at the back and subtle makeup. Atop the picture, Sania wrote:
"Always been one of the boys."

While Sania has maintained a dignified silence about the whole divorce fiasco and Shoaib Malik's third wedding. A journalist, Naeem Hanif of Sama TV, revealed that they had a telephone conversation with Sania Mirza. The journalist shared that Sania revealed that her son is disturbed after the news of his father, Shoaib Malik's third wedding made rounds in the media.
Sania also revealed that Izhaan was bullied in his school and other kids kept asking him about details about his father's third wedding. Not only this, Sania revealed that Izhnaa had stopped going to school, and he was so disturbed that she had to bring him to India.
On January 21, 2024, Sania's sister, Anam took to her Instagram handle and shared a picture note on behalf of her. She shared how Sania always kept her personal life away from the media glares. She further added that she separated from Shoaib a few months ago, and Sania wishes him well on his journey. Anam also added that it is a sensitive period of her life, and requested privacy from fans.
Not many know that Shoaib Malik married Pakistan's famous actress, Sana Javed, in Karachi. According to the people working at the Sana's bridal designer revealed that the outfit was sent to her on an urgent basis. While the news came as a shock, Sahoaib had not really talked about his divorce from his ex-wife, Sania. Finally, after a lot of speculation, Sania's father, Imran Mirza, opened up about the same to the PTI. He shared that his daughter has taken a khula from him. The term khula refers to the right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband.
