Bollywood actor, Angad Bedi has been going through a tough phase in his life. The actor recently lost his father, Bishan Singh Bedi, to a prolonged disease, and since then, he has been trying to be a pillar of strength for his family in this tough time. For the unversed, it was on October 23, 2023, when the former Indian cricketer and Angad Bedi's father left for the heavenly abode. Recently, the doting bahu, Neha Dhupia honoured her late sasur ji by wearing a black band at the opening ceremony of the Jio MAMI Film Festival 2023. And now, Angad is all set to pay tribute to his late father by making his international sports debut.
In an interview with the Bombay Times, Angad Bedi opened up about making his international debut as a sprinter in an athletics championship in Dubai. Talking about the same, the actor mentioned that despite losing his father recently, he is competing in the race because that is what the latter would have wanted. Mentioning that it is his way of honouring his late father, Angad said sportsmanship flows in his blood. The actor also stated that his father, the late Bishan Singh Bedi, would always be there around him and said:
"My father always said keep your head down and let your actions speak. I have been deeply inspired by his wisdom. I’m competing in this race because that’s what my father would have wanted. It’s my way of honouring him and his legacy. Sportsmanship is in my blood. And I want to do exactly what my father would have expected of me. I want to participate in this race to honour him and the values that he has instilled in me during his wonderful life. He will always be there with me as my guiding light."

In the same conversation, Angad Bedi mentioned that his late father always wanted him to run. He revealed that his father wanted him to be fast on the field. Mentioning that more than himself, he wanted to compete in the race for his father, Angad said:
"My father always wanted me to run. I was this podgy little boy. I was not very athletic as a child. He wanted me to be fast on the field when he would coach me in cricket. Der aaye durust aaye. I want to do it for myself, yes, but if you really ask me, I want to do it for him."
Further, Angad shared his thoughts on taking sports as a career in his 40s. Elaborating more about it, the actor mentioned that living the life of a sportsman is difficult as the profession demands a complete transformation. Angad also added that it was Farhan Akhatar who inspired him to take up sports as a career at this stage of his life. Elaborating more about it, the actor stated that he saw the videos of how Farhan prepared himself for his character in the film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and thought that if he could do it, why not him?

On October 24, 2023, Angad Bedi released an official statement on behalf of his family and informed the world about the demise of his father, Bishan Singh Bedi. In the eulogy, the actor expressed that his father's death bowled over his family just like the former cricketer used to with his game on the field. Along with the official statement, Angad shared a candid picture of his late father and wrote:
"Isn’t it completely in Dad’s character to bowl us over with the ultimate spin ball, one that even we never saw coming. While we are in shock and overcome with grief, we find solace in knowing that he lived a rich, fearless and full life that inspired many. We are moved by each and every message of love we have received, publicly and personally."
