Ilayaraja's National Award-Winning Singer-Daughter, Bhavatharini Dies  At 47 Due To Liver Cancer

Indian musician, Ilayaraja is one of the living legends of the music industry. However, the legendary composer is going through a devastating tragedy as his daughter, Bhavatharini, sadly passed away on January 25, 2024. According to multiple media reports, the National Award-winning singer was reportedly undergoing cancer treatment in Sri Lanka.

Unfortunately, Bhavatharini couldn't cope with the damage already done by the cancer cells in her liver. The 47-year-old singer reportedly had liver cancer and was undergoing severe treatment in a hospital in Sri Lanka for the last six months. As per reports, Bhavatharini's mortal remains will be brought to Chennai for the last rites.

The heartbreaking news has saddened the entire Indian music industry as Bhavatharini was young and had an illustrious career ahead. Not only this, but to see an 80-year-old father witnessing the mortal remains of his 47-year-old daughter is indeed a heart-wrenching moment. As soon as the news of her untimely demise made its way on the internet, several netizens and renowned celebrities penned their heartfelt condolences on social media. Tamid Nadu's Chief Minister, M K Stalin admitted that Bhavatharini has left a big void in the India's music industry.

Telangana Governor, Tamilisai Soundararajan also remembered Bhavatharini's contribution to India's music industry. The Governor stated that the late singer's melodious voice would be missed and extended his condolences to her family, who is enduring enormous pain.

The iconic actor, Kamal Haasan, also admitted that it is a challenging moment for Bhavatharini's family and clearly stated that he doesn't know how to console her father and his close friend, Ilayaraja, as losing a child is the most significant loss for any parent in the world.

Ilayaraja's daughter, Bhavatharini was married to a journalist

For the unversed, Ilayaraja's daughter, Bhavatharini was a tremendous singer, who made her singing debut back in 1995 in Prabhu Deva's film, Rasaiya with the song, Masthana Masthana. Apart from being a tremendous singer, she also worked as a music composer in so many films, just like her father. Talking about her personal life, she was married to R. Sabairaj, who is a journalist by profession. Not only this, Bhavatharini's father-in-law was the famous journalist, Ramachandran. No doubt, it is a tough time for both families.
